How much internet does your home need?

Set what everyone does at the same time. Count a TV watched together as one screen.

How do we calculate this, and where do the figures come from?

We add up simultaneous activities, add a 25% margin and round up: download to the nearest 10 Mb/s, upload to the nearest 5 Mb/s. This is an estimate, not a measurement of your connection.

  • Films / online TV: 5 Mb/s in Full HD or 15 Mb/s in 4K per screen, according to Netflix recommendations. Other services may need a different speed.
  • Video call: we assume 4 Mb/s in both directions, rounding up Zoom’s requirements.
  • Cloud gaming in 4K / 120 fps: 45 Mb/s download per person, according to GeForce NOW requirements. We also add a 25% margin to the total of all activities. This mode requires a suitable GeForce NOW plan and a supported device; low ping and a stable connection matter too.
  • Our assumptions for other traffic (download / upload): household member 2 / 1 Mb/s, regular online game 5 / 1 Mb/s, upload while streaming 0.5 Mb/s and while cloud gaming 2 Mb/s.

The calculator does not include large backups, live streaming from your camera or downloading updates in the background. These add extra load. For gaming and calls, it is also worth trying a cable connection to the router.

For gamers and the network-curious

The LKH network for gamers.

We measure latency from our server to selected targets. Ping from your home or during a match may differ.

Usually 1–2 ms to the LKH edge router — based on our network measurements. Ping to a game also depends on the rest of the route and your home connection, including Wi-Fi.

Public DNS. A non-gaming reference target.

1.1.1.1

Why does distance matter? The signal has to reach the target and come back. A longer path usually means higher ping, but the traffic route, interconnections between operators and network load matter too. That is why a closer server does not always have a lower ping.

What does the result show? The average of up to 5 ICMP replies. Ping variation is the difference between the slowest and the fastest reply in this measurement. The smaller the difference, the more consistent the latency. No ICMP reply does not necessarily mean the game is not working.

The result does not include your Wi-Fi, home router or game server load. Measurements are shared between visitors and may be up to 30 seconds old — we always show the time they were taken.

How did we choose the measurement targets?

TitansMC is our Minecraft server. The CS2 targets are relay nodes from the Valve SDR configuration for that game, not the servers of a specific match. Fortnite points to an official test target for the Europe region. Hypixel gives its address in its network diagnostics guide; a low result to this entry point does not mean the same ping to the game world. Cloudflare serves as a reference point and uses a network of many locations under the same address.

Frequently asked questions.

What is the difference between FTTH and FTTB?

FTTH (Fiber To The Home) - the fibre is brought directly into your home, which gives the highest connection quality.
FTTB (Fiber To The Building) - the fibre reaches the building, and the signal is carried to your flat over copper cable. The ideal solution for blocks of flats and multi-occupancy buildings.

Can I change my internet speed?

Yes. You can increase or decrease your internet speed once a month, including during your contract. You can request the change in your customer account or by contacting our customer service.

Can I have a static public IP address?

Yes. A static public IP address costs 10 PLN per month. You can turn it on yourself after logging in to your customer account, under Services → Public IP.
